Enough is enough

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/04/23/bullying.suicide/index.html
This is getting sad folks, two eleven year old boys in two weeks...When did it go from being picked on to now being so traumatized that you want to kill yourself? I am not a young child, but I do know there were times I wanted to kick the person picking on me in the neck. Is teasing becoming violent these days? Please clue me in!

I think children now are worse than when I was growing up. The teasing was bad, but you just eventually grew past that stage. I don't know if you're talking about a suicide that happened here (Georgia), but the boy who killed himself last week did so b/c his bully called him gay. I think that is a very harsh thing for a child to say. Being teased about looks is one thing, but sexuality, wow! I am so sorry his family has to suffer because of this.

I'm referring to both children...Instead of them (administrators/lawmakers) focusing on what happens in the virtual world, they also need to worry about what happens in the schools and classrooms. Children are getting more violent these days, and learning earlier in life what being gay means, especially if you hear the negatives about being gay from parents or media. I didn't find out what being gay was until honestly I was in the 6th grade, and that was during health class. Maybe I was delayed, but after that discussion it wasn't something that was used a lot on the playground (I went to Catholic school, so all grades had recess). Being a former psychology student, I even wrote in a paper that there would be an increase in depressed teens, and an increase in teenage suicide rates...that was almost ten years ago. This is just sad on so many levels!
