Product Review on ORS Olive Girls Hair Pudding

Okay so forewarning Mama hasn't had her 'brows done in a minute so yeah I have my bushy brows thing going on.(lol) I had to cut it short because AJ made an appearance in the video (well at least via audio), but I finally got a chance to use my ipod camera (yay me) and wanted to at least show the results of a twist out using Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Girls Hair Pudding. First things first I wish I got a picture of the texture, but if you know what Miss Jessie's curly pudding it's the same visually. Once you put your finger in this gel (all you need is a fingertip's worth), and it feels really slippery but in a good way. I started off with just regular sized twists (micros oh heck no!), put some oil on my fingers unraveled and fluffed. That's it, now that I like the results looks like I'll be twisting my hair again tonight so I can wear a nice twist out at service on Sunday (yeah already planning weekend hair). What would I rate it 5 out of 5, and when I mentioned that I had some flakiness it wasn't because of the gel.

I'm in a hair rut

As much as I love my hair, it just sucks! I have fine dense type 4 hair (coils ans kinks), and darnit yesterday I was trying to find a way to do a braidout to make my hair fluffy and "strong" for yesterday's weather/cookout. I know one thing my hair came out STRAIGHT!!!, which upset me so much I even woke up Mr. T so he could see my pouting face and see my tantrum (lol yeah I got a lil' diva/bratty). He saw my dilemma, said "dag, sorry" and rolled over. Okay I don't blame him because it was 6:15 in the morning, and he was probably like why are you up fuming about your hair. I seriously wanted a puff, and my hair came out silky with waves (like it did when I was relaxed and did hairstyles like that). I told my mother, and all she could do was laugh at me and say "and you think you and your daughter have the same type of hair? ha!" So, I did what I normally do...twist strand twists, this time with flat twist in the front. This will then turn into a twist-out at the end of the week, since that is the only way I can have a successful twist out. My issue is now that we're in hades territory (weather, people talking about the weather...Satan knocked on our door with a box of popsicles talking about it was too hot for him, so you get the picture lol).  What can I do besides braids or a wig? I can see me now in the office after walking from my break, snatching my wig off fanning myself with said wig talking about "whew child it's hot and funky out there!" I know last year I cut my hair in the summer with the go to wash'n'go, but now I have some length with major shrinkage so that's not going to work for me.
While we're on the topic of hair, okay so umm this conditioner actually is pretty good. I have the coupon for a $1 off, but still working that bottle and the Rosemary Mint (disappointing because I wanted tingle, but great for detangling). I did also buy QUEEN HELENE Ginseng & Tea Tree Shampoo for All Types of Hair 16oz/473.1ml which didn't have the tingle factor I was looking for (if you've used Fantasia Tea Tree shampoo or Dr. Bronner Peppermint that's what I'm talking about), but didn't leave my hair feeling stripped while still feeling clean. I did go off of the advice of another blogger's suggestion with a good deep conditioner. I bought this conditioner, and it was worth it! I did a test first before adding it to my hair. I used it as a leave-in to see if I do a decent coil out. Left it in until my hair was dry, and boom took out my coils with no issues and had soft boingy hair. I highly recommend this conditioner, and it also has that beloved argan oil. Argan Oil courtesy of Diary of a Hair Obsession
Okay that's it for my rant, but I was really calling out for some hair style suggestions besides locs (won't start doing those until later on this year). If you happen to see someone with a youtube link please don't hesitate to post them in the comments section.

So yeah we're in the house chillin' literally because it is 90 outside, and we don't have our blow up pool ready for this (even though I think Miss A would have to fight with her parents for a spot in the pool lol). Stay cool folks!

Why are some people so anti-generic?

I have noticed that when I recommend generic brands, I get the usual scoff or nose in the air. I'm like umm hello, saving you money here, say thank you at least. I remember when a cousin was asking for help with some products for straightening her hair, and all I saw were recommendations for name brands (i.e. Chi/Farouk). So, I told her well she could find cheaper versions, using GVP (generic value products) because they work just as well and she could be able to remain in budget. I think I could feel the frowns, scoffs, and hear the "oh hell no" just by some of the responses that came after my reply. It was like a B.A.M.N. project to make sure that my cousin wasn't being "frugal" when it came to her hair. I will openly admit my hair obsession, I have been obsessed since I sat in the hair dresser's chair at the age of 4, but I have been to the point of going broke. That was until I said why am I paying full price when there are equally good products that are cheaper? I try to share this philosophy with others, but it was always about the label (and price). Case in point, I will use L'Oreal H.I.P. products because they act the same as M.A.C.. I get the same type of quality, and I feel like I'm doing L'Oreal a one up since they own Lancome (Estee Lauder's competition). Oh and yeah H.I.P. products are usually on good sales! *this is not to say that L'Oreal is generic in any shape or form...far from it!*

Beauty is pain, but you don't always have to feel that pain in your pocket! Buy generic believe me most of the time you're still helping out a major company.

calling all HAIR mixologists

I am having a hankering to do my own products...I don't know something about purchasing products that really won't do much to my hair just bothers me, lol. I mean I will always be a contributor to boosting the economy with my conditioner and various oils purchases (still love you Hairveda lol), but not to sure about anything else (at least not full price). Do any of you have any blends you mind sharing? Or your holy grail of all oils or butters?

Product I want to try

I'm still looking for some input from my readers (while still trying to build up my audience too), and this is another product I wanted to know if any of your tried.
It's JASON Lavender and Rosemary Curl Defining Conditioner, and here's the product description:

HAIRVEDA SALE!!!

Yes, I am a pusher (well not official...yet :), hint BJ) of these products. If you have no problem with waiting two weeks for wonderful products that are hand-made with love, please support the Hairveda fam. I love the Whipped Clouds, but I (see this is my opinion) just can't use it as a leave-in, but more as a moisturizer. The MoistConditioner-Pro (protein), left my hair soft, and noticed that even after my rinse I had less shed hair. The Whipped Ends Cream 3in1, works wonders, but I only have a sample, and still want to give it more time (read: being stingy with my $$ lol).
The sale has already sold out of the beloved Vatika Frosting I've been reading about (it was on sale for $5....grrrr, day late dollar short literally), and the equally infamous Almond Glaze was $4.99. Of course these would be the popular ones because a lot of women were singing these products praises, and were probably like me waiting for the sale drooling lol. Oh and if you really don't want to go mixing your own blend of ayurvedic oils please get to CoCosta Shikaki Blend oil. I felt my scalp suck up the oil, and it starting begging for more. You can't beat the price of $6.50 when the original price is $11. Also for us fellow DC Metro area customers, we get a discount on our shipping. I know when I checked my order as soon as it shipped, I got it the next day (well you can see my reaction to how thusty I was once it arrived). Excuse me Ms. BJ from Hairveda (and family members), if you happen to google Hairveda, and see it mentioned on here...PLEASE LET A SISTER KNOW WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO OPEN YOUR STORE!!! LOL

I need your input

Okay so I've been looking for a decent leave-in. I love my Herbal Essences LTR, but right now hair is slurping it up like a wanderer in the dessert. I want to like the Whipped Clouds thought I bought (sample sized on purpose), but I still think my hair needs a better base. Would anyone recommend Shea Moisture Shea Butter leave-in?

I've bought the shampoo many years ago, when I was 100% bone straight relaxed, and actually liked, but found a better product in Cream of Nature green bottle. My hair does like the Whipped Ends (also sample sized), but once again sluuurrrrrrrp lol. I would recommend this for those who aren't suffering from dehydrated hair, just slightly thirsty hair.
All recommendation will be accepted, but mainly leave-ins please and thanks (Vaseline is NOT A LEAVE-IN, BUT SEALER).

My Hairveda Came in Yesterday

I've been awaiting my handcrafted products from Hairveda for about a good two weeks (love the attention to detail, but I was getting anxious lol). I ordered the CoCasta Shikaki Oil, Whipped Clouds sample, Amla Rinse sample...some other items I just don't remember off hand.

So, how thirsty was I when I opened the box, I grabbed the whipped clouds, and slapped it on my head lol. Then sealed with the beloved CoCasta. Yeah I wanted to do a pre-poo this way, opposite of what I was supposed to use (the Vatika Frosting lol). So, I added more of the oil, and slapped on a shopping bag (cheaper than buying shower caps). I sat around for about a good 4 hours, and decided that I was going to wash my hair. Ain't it a biish, that my hot water wasn't working. I had to use residual warm water to do a quick shampoo, and rinse before I froze. I used the Whipped Clouds as a leave-in, and sealed with the AvoSoya Oil (which I will buy again). The CoCasta smelled almost like a Kemi oil with a hint of curry powder, which took some getting used to. It wasn't as heavy as I expected, but it was still light enough for me to not feel like I could fry chicken on my head. I have to use my other stuff tomorrow when I actually wash my hair (I'll do a better pre-poo, washing and deep condition). I did mix some of the AvoSoya and CoCasta with some remaining WGO (Wild Growth Oil) because my scalp is hella dry. I will say my scalp loves it because it sucked it all up, and doesn't feel as tight anymore. I'll say so far on my 24 hour experience, I will buy the AvoSoya again. I think I need more time with the CoCasta oil to actually see the results. These products can be used all over, and even rubbed some of the AvoSoya on my feet last night...no more ash lol.

Jane Carter Products!

OMG I can now go to my nearby Vitamin Shoppe, and look for Jane Carter products! Once again another "sweet" moment! I've been kind of leary about whether or not I wanted to purchase online, just because I wanted to get the "feel" (i.e. smell, touch, test, etc.) with the product. Reason why I only recommend products that I have used for my Amazon store. I promise to have a review of my purchases next week, since that's pay week...holler! lol
