Project: "Packages of Love and Hope"..give a little love year 'round!

With the way our current economy is going (yes the news says that we're having an increase in spending, new increase in income, etc.), but there are still families that are feeling the pinch. Why not try to save that hassle for them, and bring some holiday cheer to their homes. I am on the mission to get my fellow bloggers in the Washington Metropolitan Area (or if you want to in your area) to assemble goods and presents for those who are less fortunate. We can find a way to partner with an organization where we can assemble packages that include:

• some gift cards and toys from the heart (we can put together some type of donation pot or something of that nature)
• purchase basic needs (toiletries, toothbrushes, combs, brushes, washcloths, towels, razors, etc.)
• add some items to their pantry (canned salmon, tuna, soups, vegetables, rice, pasta, gravy mixes, mashed potato flakes, evaporated milk, oatmeal, cereal, snacks, etc.)

This can show the power of the internet, and how we can get EVERYONE in our communities involved in the spirit of giving. We're going to document this, and hopefully we can start a growing trend. Grant it some of us our probably feeling the pinch, but this holiday season let's give our time and love to those who probably need it the most. Please comment under this post, or under the Thanksgiving post if you (and your audience) are interested in becoming involved. We can assemble these care packages in someone's basement, church, outside in someone's parking lot, etc.. Strength in numbers folks! :-) This is in the works, and I'm quite sure that we can find a way to come together and bring the true meaning of the season to those in need.

ETA: The Drop off spot will be at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, MD 20735 December 10th, and we might be able to arrange for a later drop off.
